Thorn Castle is an interesting blend of family themes and nature’s charm, directed by György Balogh. The film centers on Tutajos, a kid who’s all about grades and gadgets, suddenly thrust into the wild. The pacing is pretty gentle – we see him grapple with his detachment from nature, which is a relatable theme for anyone raised in a tech-heavy world. Matula, the ranger, is a standout character; his warmth and wisdom provide a nice contrast to Tutajos’ initial coldness. The cinematography captures the countryside beautifully, almost like a character in its own right. It's not flashy, but it has a certain earnestness that makes it distinctive, a thoughtful exploration of growth and connection to the earth.
