Tidal Wave is an interesting watch, especially for fans of disaster films. The narrative weaves together personal stories amid the chaos of a tsunami, which adds layers to the usual action thrills. The atmosphere shifts from tense to emotional as we see the characters deal with their pasts while facing impending doom. JK Youn's direction delivers a solid mix of practical effects and CGI that, while not groundbreaking, still works well enough to evoke the scale of the disaster. The performances are pretty decent, especially the local talent that brings a certain authenticity to their roles. There's a bit of melodrama, but it fits the tone of a disaster flick. It's worth checking out if you have an interest in international cinema or natural disaster narratives.
