Tide (2022) is an intriguing animation that plays with the idea of objects being shaped by the ocean's whims. There’s this almost meditative quality to the pacing, as waves wash ashore various items, creating a dialogue with Polanski's 'Two Men and a Wardrobe'. The atmosphere feels contemplative, as if the film is inviting you to ponder the significance of each piece that emerges from the surf. Practical effects give it a tactile feel, which is a nice contrast to the fluid animation style. Performance-wise, it's more about the visual storytelling than character-driven narratives, but that’s part of its charm. It’s distinctive for the way it blends surrealism with a reflective tone, making you consider the stories behind forgotten things. Quite a unique piece to explore, really.
