So, Tin Men is this quirky little film set in 1963 Baltimore, and it’s got a great balance of comedy and drama. You’ve got these two aluminum-siding salesmen, and their rivalry escalates over a minor car accident, which is just the perfect setup for the chaos that unfolds. Levinson really captures the essence of the era with a blend of nostalgia and humor. The pacing feels just right – it gives you time to soak in the characters and their absurdity. The performances, especially from Richard Dreyfuss and Danny DeVito, are superb, full of that kind of raw energy that makes the rivalry feel real. Plus, the practical effects and period details add a nice touch to the atmosphere, making it all the more engaging.
