'Tis The Season To Be Holly (2024) is a light-hearted romp that plays with the classic 'grinch learns to love Christmas' trope, but in a fresh way. Jack, our reluctant hero, grapples with some pretty heavy emotional baggage, which sets a nice contrast to the bubbly energy of Holly. Their meet-cute is goofy and whimsical, kind of sets the tone for the whole film, really. The pacing is brisk, and there's this delightful back-and-forth between them that feels genuine. The practical effects, especially during some of the holiday mishaps, bring a charming, almost nostalgic feel. Performances are solid, with that nice blend of comedic timing and heartfelt moments that these holiday films thrive on. Not every moment hits, but it has a warmth that feels like a cozy blanket on a cold night.
