To Be a Seed is quite the visual experience. It's an animation that plays with juxtaposition—seedlings dancing on fingertips is something you don’t see every day. The transformation of birds into humans adds a layer of surrealism that is both beautiful and haunting. The pacing feels deliberate, almost meditative, but then it contrasts sharply with the underlying themes of patriarchal violence. You have this environment that starts off tender and nurturing, but then shadows creep in as the forest witches fade away. It’s a commentary on history repeating itself, but presented in such a way that the visuals almost mask the darker themes. There's a real artistry in the practical effects and character design, which makes it distinctive in today’s animation landscape.
