To Steal from a Thief has this gritty tension that's palpable right from the start. Set against the moody backdrop of Valencia, the film really captures that rainy-day atmosphere—very fitting for a heist gone awry. As the robbery unfolds, you can feel the mistrust simmering between the gang leaders, which adds a layer of psychological thriller to the typical crime narrative. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but I think that works in its favor—building suspense effectively. The performances have an almost raw quality, which makes the characters feel real, flawed. There’s a distinct lack of flashy effects, instead relying on practical effects that keep the tension grounded and visceral. It's not your standard heist flick, and that’s what caught my interest.
