So, 'Tourists' is this interesting little drama from 2009 that really dives into the complexities of human connection in a pretty raw setting. You’ve got Carla, who's left by her husband, stuck in a national park—talk about a setup, right? The pacing is kind of languid, which suits the atmosphere of isolation perfectly. She meets a Norwegian backpacker and a washed-up pop star; the interactions between them are quite compelling. The performances are kind of understated, but they really deliver the emotional weight. What I find distinctive is how it explores themes of abandonment and self-discovery amidst these scenic but somewhat desolate landscapes. It’s not flashy, but it leaves you with a lot to ponder long after it's over.
Features a mix of seasoned actors and unknowns.Explores themes of loneliness and connection.Interesting use of natural settings to enhance mood.
