Trick or Treat (1983) really captures that classic Halloween vibe. It’s about Gideon Hackles, this miserly old guy who tries to scare local kids in a pretty unique way—by hiding IOUs around his creepy house. The atmosphere is thick with that old-school, low-budget horror charm, and it really has a nice pace to it. The practical effects have a certain rawness that just fits the story. You can feel the tension building, especially as the kids get deeper into Hackles' haunted setup. It’s one of those films that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still delivers some genuine chills. The performances, especially by Hackles, really add to the overall quirky yet eerie tone.
Great for a Halloween night viewing.Interesting take on classic horror tropes.Notable for its practical effects.
