Trio (2003) offers a gritty glimpse into the underbelly of crime, wrapped in a seemingly simple setup. You’ve got three characters trapped in the cab of a truck—Alexei, the driver; Nikolai, his partner; and Marina, a prostitute with layers. But twist— they’re actually undercover cops. The film does a decent job creating tension as they dig deeper into a gang targeting long-haul trucks. The atmosphere feels raw, with a pacing that keeps you guessing, almost claustrophobic at times. The performances are solid, capturing the unease and camaraderie of the characters. It's a unique take on the crime genre, using practical effects to ground its gritty narrative. Definitely offers something different from the usual fare.
