So, 'Turistas' is one of those flicks that captures the whole backpacker horror vibe pretty well, you know? Directed by John Stockwell, it has this raw, sun-soaked atmosphere that mixes vacation bliss with impending doom. The pacing starts off leisurely, but as the group gets deeper into the Brazilian countryside, it spirals into chaos. The practical effects have a gritty charm, especially in the more intense scenes, which I appreciate over CGI. The performances are decent, and you can feel the tension build as the characters face a nightmare that stems from local folklore. It's not groundbreaking, but it’s got a unique flavor thanks to its setting and themes around trust and survival.
