So, 'Turn Around' is one of those indie horror flicks that really tries to dig into that primal fear of getting lost in the woods. Nathan, played with a sort of jittery charm, is the anxious type you might relate to β and when Amber disappears, the tension ramps up. The pacing is interesting; it bounces between moments of sheer panic and those hauntingly quiet stretches that let the atmosphere settle in. There's definitely a focus on practical effects which, in my opinion, adds a nice gritty edge. It captures that feeling of isolation well, and the performances, especially Nathan's descent into desperation, are quite effective. Some might find it uneven, but that's part of its charm, right?
