Tusuk Jelangkung is quite an intriguing piece from 2003, really tapping into that supernatural vibe. The film kicks off with Rea and her boyfriend Zacky getting into this unsettling game of jelangkung, which, let’s face it, is never a good idea. The tension builds nicely, and there's this creeping sense of dread that lingers throughout. The performances, especially from Iqbal Rizantha, can feel raw, which adds to the overall atmosphere. The practical effects, while not overly flashy, work within the film’s context to evoke a sense of realism. It’s all about how the spirit interacts with them, pulling them deeper into chaos. This film has that distinct early 2000s horror feel which you don’t see as much anymore.
