Ultimatum (1994) is one of those lesser-known action flicks that presents a unique blend of local flavor and international intrigue. Dina Bonnevie's portrayal of a Filipina in a US chemical company is quite compelling; she navigates the tension between corporate interests and local realities. The pacing is a bit uneven, but it builds up to moments of genuine suspense, especially with Eddie Garcia as the beleaguered Chief of Police. The action sequences, while perhaps not groundbreaking, have a raw, practical feel that gives the film a certain grit. Vernon Wells brings a menacing presence as the terrorist leader, adding to the film's tension. It’s not polished, but there’s a certain charm in its imperfections and a narrative that touches on important themes of loyalty and duty.
