Uncanny is an intriguing blend of sci-fi and psychological thriller that really explores the intersections of humanity and technology. The film's mood is both eerie and contemplative, with a slow-burn pacing that allows you to digest the moral questions it raises. Matthew Leutwyler’s direction gives the film a very intimate atmosphere, heightened by the performances, particularly by the leads. The practical effects used for Adam, the robot, are particularly noteworthy—there’s something unsettling yet fascinating about how lifelike he appears. Joy Andrews' character adds an engaging layer, caught between fascination and fear with both David and his creation, making the tension palpable throughout. It’s definitely a film that invites discussion long after the credits roll.
