Up Route is one of those films that stays with you long after the credits roll. The atmosphere is thick with unease, and the pacing has a slow burn that gradually builds tension. It’s about a hitchhiker who gets picked up by this extremely odd guy, but what’s even weirder is his potted plant—there's definitely something more going on there. The practical effects are used sparingly but hit hard when they need to. The performances are understated yet unsettling, creating an air of distrust and curiosity. The themes of isolation and the unknown are woven effectively into the narrative, making it feel more like a descent into madness than just a simple horror flick. It’s definitely distinct, in a way that lingers.
