Valentine (2001) is one of those horror films that takes the slasher formula and gives it a Valentine’s twist, which is kind of refreshing. Directed by Jamie Blanks, it delivers that early 2000s vibe with a moody atmosphere and a slick look. The pacing is pretty engaging, balancing suspense with some genuinely tense moments. The premise—friends being stalked by a masked killer from their past—adds a layer of psychological dread. Practical effects are decent for the time, adding a certain grit to the kills which is always nice. The performances hold up well too, with a cast that seems committed to the material. It’s not groundbreaking, but there's a certain charm in its execution that makes it stand out in the genre.
