So, Veganzz is set in 1985, right in the thick of a zombie apocalypse mixed with the socio-political tensions of Thatcher's Britain. It has this gritty, raw atmosphere that really pulls you into the despair of the time. The pacing is interesting; it ebbs and flows between character development and those tension-filled moments dealing with flesh-hungry zombies. The performances are quite solid, especially the dynamic between Alan and Flynn, which really explores themes of friendship under strain. Practical effects are utilized nicely, giving the zombies a visceral quality that CGI just can't replicate. There’s a certain nostalgia to the look and feel, even if it’s bleak. Definitely something that stands out in the genre.
Veganzz is still relatively new, and it hasn’t had a lot of exposure yet, which might make it a little harder to find in physical formats. As of now, it seems to be limited to a few indie releases, but there’s been some buzz in collector circles about potential future editions. Given its unique premise and strong character-driven narrative, it’s likely to gain more interest as time goes on, especially among those who appreciate a blend of social commentary and horror.
