So, this film captures the chaotic energy of Violent Femmes' performances at the Hacienda back in the early '80s. It’s raw and unfiltered. You can feel the sweat and urgency in their sound, which is definitely a reflection of the punk and alternative rock vibe of that era. The pacing is frenetic yet still allows for those moments where the band really connects with the audience. The visuals aren’t overly polished, which adds to the authenticity. The performances are electric, showcasing the band’s ability to blend humor and angst. There's a certain grit to it all that really encapsulates that time in music history. Not something you see every day, especially considering how long it took to get this out.
