Waiting on Love is one of those smaller romance films that tries to capture the complexities of relationships with a touch of realism. The pacing is gentle, allowing us to really marinate in the characters' emotional struggles. You have Ally, this 'good girl' archetype who’s been burned and is just not ready to jump back into the dating pool. Then there’s Mason, a guy caught up in his own mess of past love. The performances here are sincere, lending a quiet charm to the film. It doesn't break new ground, but it paints a relatable picture of love's timing and the idea of holding on to what once was. There’s a certain indie vibe that keeps it grounded, which I find refreshing.
Waiting on Love has had a bit of a mixed reception, which may contribute to its relative scarcity in collector circles. It was released primarily on home media without a significant push, so finding it on physical formats can be a bit tricky. As with many indie films from this era, it has its devoted followers who appreciate its more understated storytelling and emotional depth. Keep an eye out for limited releases, as they can sometimes pop up in niche collections.
