Waldo's Last Stand is a charming little comedy from '40, directed by Edward L. Cahn. It's got that classic kid-centric vibe, where the gang bands together to help their buddy Waldo make a go of his lemonade stand. The pacing is breezy, fitting for a short runtime, but there's a warmth and camaraderie that makes it enjoyable to watch. They turn their clubhouse into a nightclub, which is a fun little set piece. Darla Hood shines as the lead vocalist, and her performance adds a nice touch of whimsy. The film's practical effects aren't anything to write home about, but the way the kids engage with their surroundings feels very genuine, almost like a snapshot of childhood innocence. It's a slice of nostalgia worth revisiting.
