Wayne's World is a solid blend of comedy and music that captures the laid-back vibe of the early '90s. You’ve got Wayne and Garth, two lovable metal-heads, who bring this quirky charm with their basement talk show. The pacing is loose, almost meandering at times, but it works, allowing for those hilarious, off-the-cuff moments. Penelope Spheeris directs with a certain rawness that feels authentic to the public access aesthetic. The performances are just right; Mike Myers and Dana Carvey have this chemistry that feels very genuine. And those practical effects in some of the gags? They give the film a tactile quality you don’t see much anymore. It’s got that DIY spirit, you know?
