So, 'Why Me?' is an interesting comedy that plays with the idea of entitlement and responsibility. Slater, the main character, starts off in this somewhat self-absorbed bubble, believing that life should come easy. But after a family tragedy, he finds himself in a position where he has to care for others, which flips his world upside down. The pacing has its moments, sometimes dragging a bit, but it allows for character development that feels genuine. The humor is quite subtle, not your typical slapstick stuff, and the performances, while not groundbreaking, do bring a certain charm to the narrative. It’s distinct in the way it balances lightheartedness with a deeper message about personal growth and accountability.
