So, 'Why not Speak of Love?' is this interesting little comedy from 1979 that I think often gets overlooked. The setup is quite charming — you have a caretaker stumbling upon two students, Citrom Flóra and Bohus Tamás, in a rather compromising position, which leads to their expulsion. It's a light-hearted look at youthful romance and the absurdity of university life. The pacing has a nice flow, allowing the audience to settle into the characters' blossoming relationship amid the chaos. There's a quaintness to the performances; they feel genuine and relatable. It captures a certain whimsical tone that’s sometimes missing in more modern comedies, making it distinct in its own right.
This film has had a fairly limited release history, making physical copies somewhat of a rarity. It was initially distributed on VHS, and those editions are becoming harder to find. Collectors tend to appreciate its unique atmosphere and the nostalgic lens on student life, so it garners a bit of interest in niche circles. However, it's not widely known, so it may take some digging to find a decent quality print.
