Wild Iris is an interesting dive into the depths of despair and familial conflict. The film's pacing is a bit slow, which fits its heavy themes perfectly. You really feel the weight of the main character's struggles with her mother's expectations and her own demons, notably her alcohol abuse. There's a rawness to the performances that I found striking; it feels very genuine and unpolished, which makes it resonate on a different level. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and while the practical effects are minimal, they contribute effectively to the character's emotional state. It's not the sort of film you watch for light entertainment, but it certainly has a unique voice.
