Wilder Demons #2 takes a really interesting dive into a scene from Ray's They Live by Night, but it’s done in a way that screams Matsumoto's Demons. The atmosphere is dark yet rich, managing to keep that gritty edge while layering on new sound design that elevates the experience from the first installment. The pacing feels a bit more controlled here, letting the tension build gradually. Practical effects are where this film shines, very much in line with the roots of horror. Performances are solid, capturing that raw, emotional weight. It’s distinct because it isn’t just a rehash; it feels like a homage but also a fresh take, which is tricky to pull off without losing the essence.
