Windblown, directed by Usher Morgan, is this eerie little thriller that leans heavily into its atmospheric New England setting. You can really feel the weight of isolation in every frame, especially as Beth Reeves, played with a quiet intensity, grapples with her brother’s sudden death. The pacing is deliberate, allowing the tension to build slowly but surely, before it pulls the rug out from under you. What sets it apart are the practical effects and subtle scares; no over-the-top jump scares here. It’s more about the creeping dread and the sense that something's not quite right. There's a distinct feeling of dread that lingers long after the credits roll, which, for me, is a mark of a compelling watch.
