Windfall, directed by Charlie McDowell, really captures this uneasy tension throughout. Set in a luxurious vacation home, the atmosphere feels almost claustrophobic, especially when the intruder's plan spirals. The pacing is tight; you can feel the weight of each moment. The performances are solid - Jason Segel, Lily Collins, and Jesse Plemons really bring the characters to life, each revealing layers of desperation and motivation, which adds a lot to the narrative. Themes of wealth and power dynamics are explored in a way that’s both subtle and striking. Oh, and the practical effects, while not flashy, serve the story well, enhancing the overall sense of dread without overdoing it. It's a clever take on the thriller genre, really.
