Woman Wanted is a curious mix of comedy, crime, and drama. George B. Seitz directs with a light touch, but there's an underlying tension as Ann Grey, played by the captivating Maureen O'Sullivan, tries to clear her name after a wrongful conviction. The film takes some wild turns, especially with the car crash that sets off a frantic chase. The pacing feels brisk, yet it allows for some genuinely touching moments, particularly between Ann and Tony Baxter, portrayed by the reliable John R. McGowan. The practical effects, especially during the escape scenes, have a raw charm that’s often lost in today’s CGI-heavy landscape. It’s this blend of humor and suspense that keeps it engaging without losing sight of its darker themes.
