Lawrence Kasdan's Wyatt Earp takes a sprawling look at the life of the notable lawman, and it’s not just about the gunfights. You can really feel the grit of the Old West, the way it captures family loyalty and the weight of the law. Kevin Costner’s performance as Earp is quite layered, showing both determination and vulnerability. There’s a real sense of place, from Wichita to Tombstone, and the pacing allows you to absorb the nuances of each relationship, especially with Doc Holliday, played by a charismatic, if somewhat understated, Dennis Quaid. The film opts for practical effects over CGI in its shootouts, which gives it a raw authenticity. It's not your typical shoot-‘em-up; it’s more reflective, even contemplative at times.
