Yugpurush is an interesting dive into the complexities of love and mental illness. The film has a rather somber tone, which is both engaging and at times, quite heavy. Anirudh's character is portrayed with a certain depth that captures the challenges of his condition, making his romance with Sunita feel both poignant and fraught with tension, especially with the looming disapproval of her guardian, Mohan. The pacing meanders a bit, allowing an exploration of the characters’ emotional landscapes. While the performances are not necessarily groundbreaking, they do convey a genuine sense of struggle and yearning. It's distinctive for its raw portrayal of mental health and societal rejection, though it skews towards melodrama, which can be a bit divisive. Practical effects are minimal, but the storytelling maintains a certain grounded authenticity throughout.
