Zebra Girl is one of those films that creeps under your skin. The pacing is slow but deliberate, letting the tension build in a really unsettling way. Catherine, the lead, does a remarkable job portraying that fragility, and you feel every twist her life takes. The rural setting adds to the isolation, almost suffocating, and the cinematography really emphasizes that. The themes of betrayal and the darkness lurking behind a facade of normalcy are explored in a way that feels raw. The practical effects, though not overdone, hit hard when they need to. There’s just something about the way it unfolds that makes it stick with you longer than expected.
