Zombies of Oz: No Place Like Home is this curious blend of fantasy and horror that takes you down a twisted yellow brick road. It’s like a mashup of classic fairy tale elements with the grittiness of a zombie apocalypse. The pacing has this interesting ebb and flow, sometimes slow but it builds up the tension nicely. I found the practical effects quite engaging, especially for a student film—there's a certain charm in how they crafted the zombies. The performances, while not always polished, have a raw energy that adds to the film's unique atmosphere. It’s an offbeat take on a well-known story, and you can really see the passion from Mai Nakanishi and Christine DeJoy in their work.
Unique student project from Vancouver Film School.Interesting take on the Oz narrative with horror elements.Great practical effects for a low-budget film.
